Why Does My Thermostat Go Into Recovery Mode in San Marcos, TX?

Recovery mode is usually a normal part of how a programmable thermostat works. Thermostats have a setting called energy-saving mode, or something similar, and recovery mode occurs when the system is either entering or leaving that mode. Read on to learn about some situations when your thermostat could be in recovery mode in your home in San Marcos, TX.

Programming

Programmable thermostats will react to changes that you make to any programs. They will enter recovery mode as the thermostat turns either on or off in reaction to a program.

As the system makes the changes in temperature for you, the thermostat will likely enter recovery mode. If the changes don’t happen or your thermostat stays in recovery mode for longer than a few minutes, then it’s possible you might need heating or cooling repairs.

Heat Pump Switching

If you have a heat pump, then as the temperature cools down toward evening or heats up toward midday, your heat pump will switch back and forth between heating mode and cooling mode. When it does this, your smart thermostat will display “recovery mode” as it adjusts to a new programmed temperature. Once the heat pump is in the new mode, the smart thermostat won’t display “recovery mode” any longer.

A Power Surge

Some smart thermostats have connections to your home’s power instead of batteries. In this case, it’s possible for an electrical surge to wipe your smart thermostat’s settings. As it reboots, it will probably show “recovery mode.”
